BEAUTIFUL DAY - THE ALBUM
SPECIAL OFFER
The
first 100 orders of the new Cass Eager album 'Beautiful Day'
through Waterfront Records will also get a free copy of the
single, with unreleased tracks.
From the reggae-tinged
groove of the crowd favourite title track 'Beautiful Day' to
the killer slide-guitar blues of 'Take These Wings' and heartfelt
soulfulness of 'Sister', the instrumentation running through
these songs adapt to fit the feel, from slide guitar to hammond
and rhodes piano, harmonica, violins, stompbox and ukelele. Most
are with Cass's trademark rhythmic acoustic guitar sound, and
all with Cass's husky-soaked vocals and effortless melodies bringing
them to life. Cass Eager's
debut album, 'Beautiful Day', is a stunning collection
of tunes spanning soul to blues, folk to gospel, roots
to reggae.
Originally a one-day walk-in demo with her band,
Jan Rynsaardt (guitar), Karl Willebrant (bass), Dave Marsalis
(drums) and Paul Searles (keys). The recordings led Cass to
produce, along with James Freeman, a full-blown CD, adding some
extra solo tracks along the way. She was joined by a number of
special guests, including Wayne Goodwin on strings (Emmy Lou
Harris / Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young),
and Mahalia Barnes / Juanita Tippens on Backing Vocals. The
themes move from the tenderness of solitude, of love found and
lost, to an expressive celebration of life.

TRACKS MAGAZINE AUSTRALIA
'Cass Eager sings with the kind of heartfelt sincerity that
makes you want to believe in every word she utters.
She is obviously the kind of performer who likes her lyrics to be heard and
the message in each song is clearly articulated. Each one takes you on a melodic,
themed journey, or gives an insight into a character that has presented themselves
as an appropriate musical muse. The tempo
varies between more upbeat, feelgood tracks, and songs that have
an endearing melancholic quality. Several of the songs, like 'Beautiful
Day' in particular, will have you singing along pretty much the
first time
you hear them. 4/5 stars' .

BEAUTIFUL DAY - THE SINGLE

Cass's first single from her debut album 'Beautiful
Day'. An audience favourite, the song brings the crowd to their
feet, and you just can't help singin' along.
On the tail of a Canadian
showcase tour at CMW, the single has already charted
at No.3 in Canada.
Features the radio edit, plus three other
unreleased mixes: the 'lo-fi'
acoustic lounge room mix with J. Rynsaardt's extra guitar
lickin'; the 'palm tree' mix featuring Bob Egan (Blue Rodeo,
ex-Wilco) on National and pedal steel guitars, and ex-Skunkhour
keyboard man Paul Searles's (Snorkel) tripped-out messed-up
dub-along remix.

SPILL MAGAZINE
CANADA
'Lying on my back staring up at a cloudless Muskoka sky a smile
creeps across my face as the lyrics echo out over the serene
lake. 'Everything's alright, cause it's a beautiful day'. Truer
words have never been spoken. I think if Cass Eager could choose
the setting for me to first hear Beautiful Day,
this would be it. The sound of the lake lapping
against the dock fills the empty space, but it almost seems like
it should be right there on the record. (This is) 'Beer drinking
chilling at the cottage' music, and Cass brings that very same
energy.
I will no doubt get a lot of play out of it this summer.

Timor-Leste - Freedom Rising

'Timor-Leste - Freedom Rising' has 18 fantastic Australian artists, like Missy Higgins, The John Butler Trio, The Cruel Sea, The Cat Empire, Kasey Chambers & Vika & Linda, who all kindly donated their songs.
Cass Eager's track 'Beautiful Day' is included on the CD and
she officially launched the CD in Melbourne, Australia and in
Dili, East Timor.
An Australian based charity named Life,
Love and Health approached singer/songwriter Paul
Kelly to create an album to raise money for the
women and children of Timor-Leste. Paul, in turn, approached
EMI/Capitol Records who agreed to come on board for this cause.
All of the money raised from the album sales will go to various charities and foundations that are helping the Timorese women and children become better educated in the ways of maternal health and childcare, in addition to general education and economic empowerment. These charities are Life,
Love and Health, the Alola
Foundation, and Haburas Foundation, East Timor’s
only non-governmental environmental group.
Women in Timor-Leste will give birth to an average of 7.4 children
in her lifetime and the nation has one of the highest maternal & infant
death rates in the world.
You can grab some cool tunes and support East
Timor at the same time.

PAUL KELLY
'I am proud to be associated with this record. Our philosophy
has been to encourage artists to donate new recordings, unreleased
tracks or hidden gems tucked away on b-sides and to make connections
between a wide range of music.
I want to thank all the artists
involved for supporting the people of Timor Leste, especially
all those who came up with new songs. This is not a hastily
thrown together warmed over compilation.
This has been a labour
of love'.
